Governments of Guinea and Burkina Faso have refused to accept their citizens who were arrested on Ghana’s borders, quarantined and later tested positive for the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
The Norther Regional Minister, Mr Salifu Sa-eed has said that government of Ghana is having a difficult time in its quest to return these citizens to their respectively countries.
It was announced some days back that some eight Guineans and two Burkinabes have tested positive for COVID-19 in Tamale, and arrangements were being made to repatriate them to their countries.
But, speaking to the media in Tamale, Mr Sa-eed indicated that, “Our headache is that the Guinean authorities are saying they will not agree for us to return them.”
According to him, in other not to breach diplomatic protocols, Ghana is being cautious with the way it handles the matter.
Especially so, as Burkina Faso has threatened to also return Ghanaians who are critically ill in their country and receiving treatment.
