The Akrofuom District Assembly, which was carved out of the Adansi South Assembly some three years ago, has constructed and completed a number of projects to improve the living standards of the people.
Speaking at the 2nd Ordinary Meeting of the Assembly at Akrofuom, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Jonas Maurice Woode, said, the Akrofuom District benefitted from a number of development projects and programmes, which had been executed to bring about an improvement in the living conditions of the people.
“All sectors of the economy, namely education, health, agriculture, roads, rural electrification among others, have seen tremendous growth in the district,” he said.
On education, Mr. Woode said three-unit classroom blocks had been constructed and completed at Aboagyekrom, Ampunyase and Yawowusukrom.
He said the assembly had re-awarded three-unit classroom blocks for both the Avornyo and Kofigyame schools, and had started the procurement process for the award of a six-unit block at Johnkrom.
The DCE further said a storey building to serve as dormitory for both boys and girls at the Akrofuom Senior High Technical School under the GH¢ 1 million per constituency programme was being constructed.
He announced that the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication (GIFEC) was in the process of supplying computers to the Grumesa, Mensonso and Akrofuom ICT centers.
On health, Mr. Woode said nurses’ quarters and washrooms were being constructed at Wamase to help solve the accommodation challenges of health personnel in the district.
Touching on roads, he said the Akrofuom District had benefitted from routine maintenance, reshaping and bituminous surfacing among others, and that those to be reshaped include Kubi Junction to Kubi, Takyikrom to Adomnyame, and Grumesa to Anokrom, while those to be given bituminous surfacing are Ampunyase Junction to Adukroba, and Aboagyekrom to Ampunyase.
On the Akrofuom Community Mining Programme, the DCE noted that a company had been assigned to establish a mining process center at a designated area just before Kokotenten on the Okyerekrom road to process the ore, while about 18 communities without lights are to be connected to the national grid before Christmas.
