The former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer in the 2024 elections, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has presented ?200,000 and 1,000 bags of cement to the victims of last Friday’s fire disaster at Adum, in Kumasi.

Hundreds of shops and properties were burnt to ashes wiping away the hard-earned investments and livelihoods of countless individuals.
Dr. Bawumia’s donation is aimed at helping the victims to resettle after the tragedy.
He was accompanied by the former Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah, NPP MPs and party executives.
The gesture was inspired by his imagination of pain and loss of the affected traders, business owners and families affected by the tragic incident.
The ?200,000 financial support is to give the victims the needed cushion to meet their immediate needs, such as food, clothing and medical care.
This money will also support the rebuilding of the affected areas. Dr. Bawumia also provided 1,000 bags of cement as his contribution towards the rebuilding of the damaged buildings and structures.
The former Vice President sympathised with the victims and urged other organisations and individuals to also lend a helping hand to those affected by the fire.
“I am deeply saddened by the devastating fire which ravaged the Central Business District of Kumasi in the heart of the Subin Constituency,” the NPP flagbearer said.
Dr. Bawumia called on the government, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and all relevant agencies to, as a matter of urgency, come to the aid of the fire victims.
“We must work together to provide relief and support to those who have lost everything and help them rebuild their lives,” he pleaded. The traders praised Dr Bawumia for the quick response and generosity.
