The suspected criminals
The Amasaman Divisional Police yesterday arrested 21 suspected criminals, believed to be Nigerians, in a swoop on identified criminal hideouts within Pokuase District.
The Police retrieved 29 laptop computers, 30 mobile phones, 17 pen drives and 95 SIM cards for different networks.
They were arrested in a three-bedroom apartment around Pokuase ACP area.
Two other suspects were also arrested whilst smoking substance suspected to Indian hemps, at a ghetto in Mayera.
The exercise, which was led by the Pokuase District Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) John Nuertey, was part of ongoing measures against criminality within the jurisdiction.
A source at the Division told Ghanaian Times yesterday that police intelligence indicated that the suspects in the apartment were leaving the apartment at night for unknown activities and returning at dawn.
It said they were suspected to be part of armed robbery syndicate that terrorised and robbed innocent persons of properties, including computers.
Currently, all 23 suspects have been detained and the Police were making efforts to contact the landlord of the suspects to assist in investigations.
