The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC)has donated two motorcycles to the Accra Central Divisional Command of the Ghana Police Service (GPS) to support their operations.
The gesture was in response to a request by the Division for WAEC to support them with a motorcycles to enable the Command patrol its jurisdiction especially during the night.
Speaking at a brief ceremony at the WAEC Head Office in Accra to hand over the motorcycles, the Director of Administration, WAEC, Stephen Donkor said the Council offered to help as its contribution to promotion of security.
This, he said, was hinged on the belief that security was a shared responsibility and that corporate institutions should partner the security agencies to ensure maintenance of law and order.
He expressed the hope that the motorcycles would go a long way to enhance the operations of the Divisional Command and ensure that the catchment areas was safe for all.
The Divisional Commander, Superintendent Florence Owusu, thanked the Council for its support and promised that the motorcycles would be put to good use to help protect life and property.
She urged other organisations to support the GPS to carry out its mandate and enforce law and order and create a safe and enabling environment for the socio-economic development of the nation.
