Malik Basintale, Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), has emphasised that strong and successful nations are built by empowering young people.
He explained that when the youth are given the right opportunities, skills and support, they can contribute significantly to national development.
Mr Basintale made the remarks while speaking at the Empower Vault Summit, where he encouraged young people to take advantage of opportunities available to them.
According to him, the youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow and must therefore be prepared to play their role in shaping the future of the country.
He noted that not everyone can become a doctor, lawyer or professor, stressing that people must explore different skills and talents to help build a prosperous nation.
Mr Basintale explained that when individuals use their different skills and work together, they can help create a better future for the country.
He indicated that the Youth Employment Agency continues to focus on skills development to help young people discover and develop their talents.
According to him, many young people have hidden skills that can contribute to national growth if they are given the right support and training.
Mr Basintale also pointed to the growing opportunities in the digital space, noting that many people are now earning a living through platforms such as blogging and other online activities.
He explained that some individuals working in the digital space are earning more than people working in traditional office jobs, which shows the many opportunities available to the youth.
Mr Basintale therefore encouraged young people to take their future seriously, explore new opportunities and remain determined in their pursuit of success.
