Headmaster of Three Town Senior High School, Franklin Amesimeku has challenged youth in rural Ghana not to use poverty as an excuse to fail in life.
He says young people in poor communities across the country can still make it to the top even without enough money once they take their education seriously and show determination.
“You can accomplish your educational goals without enough money. You only need to persevere, determined and you will succeed,” the academic whose school is located at Denu in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region noted.
Mr. Amesimeku was speaking the maiden edition of the Mafi Zongo Electoral Area Youth Impact Summit at Mafi Zongo in the Central Tongu District on Saturday.
The summit was on the theme: Harnessing the Potentials of the Youths for a Better and Sustainable Future.
More than 250 youth from across the Central Tongu District as well as chiefs and community leaders participated in the summit. The slogan adopted at the end of the programme was “Youth Impact Summit: I am a Leader, Youth Impact Summit, I am leading.”

The youths were mentored by carefully selected mentors from industry and academia. The mentors shared their knowledge and experiences and encouraged the youth to work hard to become better adults.
Assembly Member for the area, Julius Karl D. Fieve who organized the summit urged the youth to learn from successful adults and shape their lives according to their leads.
“Most youths are faced with myriad of problems including unemployment, poverty, lack of direction, discrimination among others.
"I believe this programme would go a long way to bring the youths closer to these mentors who have been tried and tested by all the circumstances that confront the youths today,” he said.
IT and Digital Innovations Specialist, Cherubim Mawuli Amenyedor urged the youths to believe in themselves since everything they needed to accomplish their dreams is already present and around them. He urged them to be visionary, dream big, be innovative and aspire to a higher height.

“You must show the leaders in you. You are all leaders. I urged you to see beyond sight…” he said.
Senior Lecturer, Department of Pharmacology at University of Development Studies - Tamale Evans Kwame Ameade urged the participants to persevere.
He said: “it does not matter where you come from. You can make it. Just focus on your goal, get determined and you will make it.”
Mr. Ameade urged the youth to take their education seriously as it is the main tool that can help change their circumstances and set them apart from their peers.
Participants were excited about the opportunity to participate in the event. Torgbe Ayittey Duame II, the Chief of Akorto, Mafi Dadoboe said, he together with the youths benefitted a lot from the programme.
