St. Hubert, Awusco takes Accra Academy NSMQ blows 'bl3oo'

Accra Academy have survived elimination at the 1/8 stage after they scored 37 points to qualify for the quarterfinals. 

The contest which featured seeded St Hubert Minor Seminary and Awudome Senior High School started very slow with all schools scoring just 10 points or less atbthe end of Round One.

Accra Academy picked up pace and secured 17 points at the end of the Speed Race in Round Two but the Priblem of the Day dampened the fight again with Accra Academy picking up just a single point out of the 10 points the question was worth.

Awudome SHS also salvaged a point and St Hubert Minor Seminary scored 3 out of 10. The Fourth Round required the contestants to determine the truth or otherwise of statements read to to them. A wrong answer attracts a point deduction.

But Accra Aca proved to champions at  this round shooting their tally up by 13 points with Awusco also amassing 10 points from the round. 

The seeded school St Hubert Seminary gathered only four points and trailed the contest. Awusco only got to the 1/8 stage by second chance as one of the 18 high scoring losing schools in the preliminary stage.

With four riddles available for maximum 20 points in the final round, the hopes of St. Hubert re-seeding themselves was still alive albeit very unlikely to happen. 

As it turned out, Accra Academy picked two of the riddles for three points each and Awusco picked the other two also for 3 points each. 

Accra Academy will be praying for the elimination of defending champions Prempeh College later Wednesday or they will have a mighty foe to deal with in the quarterfinals. 

Awusco and Hubert sem will live to fight another day.
