Some aggrieved men suspected to be members of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Tuesday, 25 April besieged the office of the Bawku West District Assembly in the Upper East Region and destroyed some properties.

Reports say the men, with sticks and machetes destroyed some desktop computers, louvre blades and furniture.
They allegedly went ahead to the private residence of Zebilla MP Frank Fuseini, who is also the Deputy Upper East Regional Minister, and vandalised his gate.

They later stormed the NPP’s office in Zebilla and destroyed properties there as well.
A joint team of police and military personnel were called in to restore order.
Several groups affiliated to the NPP have been lobbying for their preferred candidates to be selected as MMDCEs.
Many have threatened to engage in violent activities if their candidates are not selected.
