
GOP Majority Whip Steve Scalise was reportedly hit, according to FOX News' Chad Pergram, along with other staffers.
A Republican congressman was among multiple people shot Wednesday at a baseball field where the congressional team practices in Alexandria, Virginia.
GOP Majority Whip Steve Scalise was hit, along with other staffers. Two Capitol police officers were also reportedly shot.
The suspected shooter reportedly was armed with a rifle and scope. He is currently in police custody.
Rep. Mo Brooks — who was at the baseball practice — confirmed that Scalise was shot.
Brooks said on CNN that Scalise was shot in the hip.
"He had crawled into the outfield, leaving a trail of blood," Brooks said.
Brooks told CNN the shooter was trying to take out the congressional security detail before "getting to the rest of us."
