Arsenal are reportedly eyeing a January move for West Ham United's Ghanaian star Mohammed Kudus.
According to The Mirror, Arsenal previously attempted to sign Kudus from Ajax before his £40 million transfer to West Ham last summer but were hindered by financial constraints.
Now, with Leandro Trossard attracting interest from Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad, Arsenal view Kudus as an ideal replacement should Trossard leave.
Currently, Kudus is serving a suspension for violent conduct following his red card during West Ham's 4-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. However, he has maintained a high profile, recently drawing attention after being seen at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium during their 2-0 Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain.
Arsenal, who have felt the absence of Martin Ødegaard's creativity due to injury, could benefit from Kudus' versatility and attacking flair. Manager Mikel Arteta may see him as a valuable addition to strengthen the Gunners' offensive options.
Kudus Joining West Ham
Kudus joined West Ham on August 27, 2023, signing a five-year contract for a reported €44.5 million (£38 million) plus add-ons. He became the club's third Ghanaian player after John Paintsil and André Ayew and ranks as the second-most expensive Ghanaian player in history, following Thomas Partey.
Since joining the Hammers, the 24-year-old has made 23 goal contributions in 55 appearances, showcasing his attacking prowess and adaptability.
The bigger future for Mohammed Kudus
Despite a challenging start at West Ham this season, a potential move to Arsenal could provide Mohammed Kudus with the platform to rediscover his form and fully showcase his talent. Arsenal, who have shown glimpses of promise but have struggled with consistency, particularly in the Premier League, could greatly benefit from the energy and creativity Kudus brings.
