By Abigail Nkrumah A 40-year-old fraudster posing as a police operations commander in a bid to defraud institutions of various sums of money has been arrested.  The suspect, Habib Osman, was arrested at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel last Monday at about 4.00pm. According to the Accra Regional Police Commander, COP Patrick Timbillah, Habib, with a fake police identity card and fake letterheads of the Police Service, posed as Commander Boamah Arhin and went round various institutions soliciting funds for presumed family members of police officers who lost their lives in the process of fighting armed robbery in the Greater Accra Region. A search conducted on him also revealed a fake identity card of the Food and Drugs Board bearing the name Seidu Mohammed and an identity card of the editor of Accra Mail newspaper, bearing the name Godwin Bediako. An amount of GH¢1,000, donated by the management of La Palm Royal Hotel, was found on him. Habib is believed to be unemployed. He is married with two children and resides in the neighbourhood of Tisane Police Station in Accra. He is in police custody to be arraigned soon.
