Disqualified presidential nominee of the Independent People’s Party (IPP) Kofi Akpaloo has thrown his weight behind the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the December polls.
Mr Akpaloo was part of 13 candidates who were disqualified by the Electoral Commission (EC) for failing to meet the needed requirements but failed again to qualify for the race after an opportunity was granted by the Supreme Court for them to rectify the anomalies on their nomination forms.
Addressing Journalists in Accra, he explained that they took a decision to join forces with the NPP to wrestle power from the Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) because his party believes in the NPP’s ideology to relieve Ghanaians of hardships.
He urged his supporters to vote massively for the Flagbearer of NPP Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the NPP to win power.
According to him, they are going to embark on a vigorous campaign that will win NPP votes and after re-organise themselves.
‘As a party we have so many ideas, though we are a new party, I can tell you if you give us the opportunity we will be able to transform Ghana. We don’t want to shelve this idea so we came together to support one of the parties. As a party, we believe that when it comes to job creation, we have fantastic ideas that can put monies directly into people’s pockets.
One of the parties we spoke to agreed to work with us, as a party we decided to support the New Patriotic Party (NPP) whose presidential candidate is Nana Akufo Addo, their agenda is also about job creation, but we are only helping them now to win power in 2016, after which we will re-organise our party and move on, IPP is supporting NPP for 2016,’ he explained.
