The Ashanti Regional branch of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) is to demolish a three storey commercial building at Asafo Dunkirk in Kumasi.
The Ghana National Fire Service, NADMO and the Police, responded to a distress call from traders who were in the collapsing structure.
NADMO Coordinator Kwabena Nsenkyire and Police have declared the place a danger zone, and have also cordoned off the entire area.
Speaking to Abusua FM’s Osei Kwadwo, the Ashanti Regional NADMO Coordinator, he said the building is to be demolished within an hour time to avoid any disaster.
The structure has since been barricaded and preparations are underway to evacuate properties from it.
Residents and traders have been forced to leave the place to pave way for the building to be demolished.
Portion of the building collapsed this morning forcing traders to run for their lives.
