Cape Coast Chiefs under fire as group demands accountability

The chiefs are being accused of doing little to improve living conditions of the people in the area with many youth resorting to crime including robbery and prostitution for survival.

The town according to the group “Concerned Cape Coast Citizens” abounds with a lot of resources which could be harnessed to benefit the people of the metropolis but the chiefs choose to spend such resources on themselves at the expense of the generality of the people.

The chiefs according to the demonstrators have not only become divisive but also corrupt as they have failed to account for their stewardship in the last 20yrs especially the paramount chief of Cape Coast Osaberima Kwesi Atta 2.

Osaberima Kwesi Atta and his subchiefs according to the demonstrators have failed to put up any project in the town in the last 20yrs despite the huge royalties that come to the traditional council aside other significant donations that they receive during the annual Fetu Afahye celebration.

The chiefs, they add even contracted a loan from a bank which was never used for the intended project but shared among some chiefs in the metropolis .

They are therefore calling on the chiefs to account for their stewardship or abdicate their stools .
