Producer inflation has ended 2025 at 1.9 percent compared with 26.1 percent recorded in December 2024.
According to the latest update from the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), December 2025 recorded year-on-year (YoY) Producer inflation rate of 1.9 percent, representing a 0.6 percentage point increase from the November 2025 (1.3 percent) but 24.2 percentage points lower from the rate recorded in December 2024.

On a month-on-month (MoM) basis, producer inflation declined by 0.8 percent between November and December 2025, reflecting a decrease in average producer prices over the period.
The overall Producer Price Index stood at 266.0 in December 2025, compared with 268.1 in November 2025 and 261.1 in December 2024.
Sectoral performance
The industry excluding construction sector recorded a YoY producer inflation rate of 2.1 percent in December 2025, up from 1.6 percent in November 2025. However, on a MoM basis, the sector declined by 0.9 percent.
Within the sector, Mining and Quarrying recorded the highest YoY inflation at 3.3 percent, up from 2.3 percent in November, contributing 1.0 percentage point to the overall inflation rate.
Electricity and Gas followed with a YoY inflation rate of 6.1 percent, rising from 4.0 percent in November, and contributing 0.3 percentage points.

Manufacturing inflation declined to 0.1 percent in December from 0.5 percent in November, losing 0.4 percentage points. Water Supply, Sewerage and Waste Management remained unchanged at 2.3 percent.
On a MoM basis, Mining and Quarrying declined by 1.4 percent, Manufacturing fell by 0.6 percent, Electricity and Gas rose marginally by 0.1 percent, while Water Supply, Sewerage and Waste Management remained flat.
The Construction sector recorded a YoY producer inflation rate of 1.9 percent in December 2025, up from 0.7 percent in November, representing an increase of 1.2 percentage points. On a MoM basis, construction prices rose by 0.3 percent.
Within construction, civil engineering recorded the highest YoY inflation at 4.2 percent, followed by specialised construction activities at 3.4 percent. Construction of buildings recorded a YoY deflation of 3.4 percent, despite a MoM increase of 0.4 percent.
The services sector recorded a YoY producer inflation rate of 0.6 percent in December 2025, up from 0.5 percent in November. On a MoM basis, services prices increased by 0.2 percent. The sector’s index stood at 143.4 in December, compared with 143.3 in November.
Within services, Information and Communication recorded a YoY inflation rate of 1.7 percent. Transport and Storage and Accommodation and Food Service Activities recorded YoY deflations of 3.7 percent and 3.2 percent respectively. On a MoM basis, Transport and Storage rose by 0.9 percent, Accommodation and Food Services by 0.7 percent, while Information and Communication remained unchanged.
Sub-sector trends
In the Manufacturing sub-sector, 14 out of 23 major groups recorded inflation rates above the sector’s average of 0.1 percent. The highest inflation was recorded in the manufacture of textiles at 26.8 percent, followed by leather and related products at 20.9 percent, and beverages at 15.0 percent. The manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products recorded the lowest inflation at -19.0 percent.
In mining and quarrying, mining support service activities recorded an inflation rate of 16.3 percent, while mining of metal ores recorded 21.8 percent. In contrast, the extraction of crude oil and natural gas recorded a deflation of 19.0 percent.
In the electricity and gas sub-sector, electric power generation, transmission and distribution recorded an inflation rate of 7.2 percent, while the manufacture and distribution of gaseous fuels recorded a deflation of 25.1 percent.
In the services sector, motion picture, video and television production, sound recording and music production recorded the highest inflation rate at 58.3 percent, followed by water transport at 31.5 percent and programming and broadcasting activities at 11.8 percent.
Postal and courier activities recorded 9.8 percent, while accommodation recorded a deflation of 4.1 percent.
