A 50-megawatt Solar PV plant investment being constructed by First Sky Group at Yendi in the Northern Region will be completed at the end of March this year and feed directly into the national grid, the Group’s Executive Chair Eric Seddy Kutortse has disclosed.
The project spans 140 acres and is expected to create over 300 new jobs in the region.
Delivering an address at First Sky Group’s 23rd anniversary celebration in Accra last Sunday, Chairman Kutortse said this project forms part of the Group’s major highlights and key agenda for this year.
“The Group’s forward agenda is commitment to complete the 50?megawatt Solar PV plant at Yendi by end-March 2026,” he noted.

Describing it as the first fully Ghanaian?owned utility?scale solar installation and second?largest in the country, he said this initiative aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and supports government’s green energy transition.
Mr. Kutortse stressed that the Group’s founding objectives remain unchanged: to be useful to the nation, useful to humanity and useful to God.
He revealed that beyond job creation and business expansion, the company prioritises spiritual transformation among its staff.
Highlighting the company’s growth, Mr. Kutortse said First Sky Group now operates across multiple sectors including construction, insurance, hospitality, commodities, bitumen processing, energy and rural banking.
Collectively, these businesses employ over 6,000 people nationwide.
He said the Group’s sustainability is a testament to the nation’s belief in Ghanaian capacity. “We have grown this far because Ghana chose to believe in Ghanaian enterprise,” he said, stressing that public?private collaboration is essential for national development.
Mr. Kutortse expressed appreciation to President Mahama for government’s Big Push agenda – which he said has recognised First Sky Construction’s capacity and competence, enabling the company to expand its workforce and strengthen local participation in infrastructure development.
President John Dramani Mahama, who was guest of honour at the ceremony, said the country is proud of First Sky Group for its expertise and work across the country.
He acknowledged the company for diversifying from construction into several other key sectors including energy, banking, hospitality and commodities.
“We are proud of the work that First Sky is doing. Anytime First Sky is mentioned, what comes to mind is construction. It is inspiring to note that the Group is making strides in other business concerns,” the president asserted.
