Comoros head coach Stefano Cusin has noted that his side is excited ahead of their opening Group A encounter against Morocco at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the gaffer emphasised that his team wants to take advantage of the opportunity to sell Comoros to the rest of the continent and beyond.
“It is an exceptional opportunity to showcase our country and our team,” Cusin said and added, “Morocco are extremely competitive, with or without Hakimi. We are looking for the right balance between defence and attack.”
On his part, experienced midfielder Youssouf M’Changama, shared that playing in the opening match of AFCON 2025 gives Comoros a source of great pride.
“Playing in the opening match is a great source of pride. We want to continue raising the level of Comorian football,” he said.
After weeks of anticipation, AFCON 2025 will kick off in Morocco on Sunday, December 21.
Host Morocco will set the tone for the continental showpiece when they take on Comoros. The match is scheduled to kick off at 8 pm at the Complexe Moulay Abdellah.
