Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko was left disappointed on Monday afternoon when the team drew 1-1 with Basake Holy Stars in the Ghana Premier League.
In the Week 15 fixture played at TnA Stadium, the Tarkwa-based side was backed to pick all three points to move to the top of the league standings.
Unfortunately, the team’s profligacy in front of goal, which saw them missing a penalty, denied them the victory, needing a late goal to salvage a point from the match.
Speaking in his post-match interview, Ibrahim Tanko described the result as a painful one to take.
“It’s very painful. I must say we squandered a lot of chances,” the Medeama SC coach said.
Tanko added, “We had the chances that normally we have to scored and we didn’t. It’s very painful, but we need to look at our next match. In the end, we have to be happy with the point.”
The result keeps Medeama SC in second position in the Ghana Premier League with 27 points, one behind league leaders Aduana FC.
With one outstanding match, the Yellow and Mauves still have a chance of reclaiming the top spot.
