Division One League side Tamale City FC are through to the Round 16 stage of the MTN FA Cup after defeating Ghana Premier League side Karela United on penalties.
The two Tamale-based clubs locked horns on Wednesday in a Round of 32 tie played at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.
In a match where the two teams gave everything, neither side could find the back of the net at the end of the 90 minutes, with Tamale City FC finishing the game with 10 men.
With the game coming down to the penalty shootout, Tamale City FC won the battle of wills, securing a thrilling 14-13 victory to eliminate Karela United and reach the Round of 16 stage.
In the other Round of 32 matches played on Wednesday, defending champions Asante Kotoko defeated city rivals King Faisal by a goal to nil to book their place in the next round.
Medeama SC brushed aside Gold Stars with a 3-1 win, thanks to a sensational hat-trick from Kingsley Braye.
