Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has heaped praise on Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo, describing the player as one with unbelievable qualities.
This comes after the Black Stars striker sealed his much-anticipated transfer to the English giants from fellow Premier League club AFC Bournemouth on Friday, January 9.
“Manchester City are delighted to confirm the signing of Antoine Semenyo from AFC Bournemouth.
“The 26-year-old has penned a five-and-a-half-year deal, which will see him stay at the Etihad Stadium through to 2031,” the club announced in an official notice.
Sharing his view on Manchester City’s latest signing, Guardiola revealed his admiration for Semenyo, stating that the forward was extraordinary during his time at AFC Bournemouth.
In what was a pre-match interview ahead of City’s FA Cup clash against Exeter City this weekend, Guardiola extended his appreciation to Semenyo for choosing to join his squad.
“Everybody knows his qualities. He was extraordinary at Bournemouth and can play both sides. He uses both feet unbelievably. He can play as a striker too, with his pace. He knows the Premier League. Many clubs wanted him but he decided to join us. All I can say is thank you to him and we’re pleased for the next years,” Guardiola said.
After completing his big move, Semenyo is already in line to make his debut for Manchester City on Saturday.
Guardiola has confirmed that he will be selected for the Exeter City match, although he has yet to decide whether he will be in the first eleven or start from the bench.
“He [Antoine Semenyo] will be selected [against Exeter]. I don't know if he'll start but he’ll be selected,” Guardiola shared in his pre-match interview on Friday.
