Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has expressed his eagerness to feature for Premier League giants Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
On the back of a standout display at AFC Bournemouth, the Black Stars forward has secured a high-profile move to the Citizens, penning a five-and-a-half-year deal that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2031.
Semenyo has enjoyed a meteoric rise to become one of the Premier League’s most feared forwards, earning him a significant move to Manchester City for a reported £65 million transfer fee. He is expected to provide depth and flexibility across City’s attacking positions.
Despite interest from several leading European clubs, Semenyo chose Manchester City as he looks to compete for major honours under manager Pep Guardiola.
Speaking after his unveiling, the pacey Ghanaian forward stressed he cannot wait to play in front of the Manchester City, while promising to deliver a great performance for the team.
“I have so much scope for improvement, so to be at this club, at this stage of my career, is perfect for me. It’s a real privilege to be here.
“My best football is yet to come, I am sure of that. And City are in a great position â still involved in four competitions. I really feel I can help them have a strong second half of the season.
“The Etihad is my new home. I can’t wait to play in front of the fans here and I hope to show everyone what I can do.”
Born in London to Ghanaian parents, Semenyo started his professional career at Bristol City before loan spells at Bath City, Newport County and Sunderland, further honing his craft.
After impressing at Ashton Gate, Bournemouth spotted his potential and captured his signature midway through the 2022/23 season from where his career has gone from strength to strength ever since.
Semenyo established himself as one Bournemouth’s most consistent performers this season, racking up 10 goals and providing three assists in the Premier League, further underlining his growing influence in England’s top flight.
Throughout his spell at the Bournemouth, the 25-year-old Ghanaian forward made 110 appearances for the Cherries, scoring 32 goals and registering 13 assists across all competitions.
