Ghana’s Emmanuel Lawson has been awarded a FIFAe Referee Certificate following his participation in the FIFAe Summit last month.
The achievement was announced by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in an official statement on Monday, January 12, making him the first FIFAe licensed referee within Ghana’s growing esports ecosystem.
“The Football Association is pleased to announce that Emmanuel Lawson, eFootball Manager of the Ghana National Team, the Black Asteroids, has earned a FIFAe Referee Certificate following his participation in the FIFAe Summit held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from December 17 to 19,” the Ghana FA said in an official statement on Monday, January 12.
Lawson, who serves as the eFootball Manager of Ghana’s national esports team, the Black Asteroids, earned the certification after completing an intensive online coaching programme delivered over an extended period.
The FIFAe coaching programme is aimed at equipping participants with advanced expertise in esports team management, player development, tactical planning, mental conditioning, performance analysis and the professional standards required to compete at the highest international level.
In addition to his role with the Black Asteroids, Lawson also works as the Finance Manager at the Ghana Football Association.
He has been a key member of the Association’s finance department for more than five years, combining administrative leadership with his pioneering contributions to Ghanaian esports.
His historic achievement is expected to open the door to others for similar certification in the future.
