Former Asante Kotoko captain Richard Boadu has completed a surprising move, signing a deal with Division One side FC AshantiGold that runs until the end of the season.
The transfer concludes a brief but intense period of speculation over the midfielder's future.
Just days ago, the 27-year-old midfielder, affectionately known as "Agadas", was seen training with his former club, Asante Kotoko. His presence at the club's training grounds fuelled widespread rumours and hope among fans of a dramatic return to the Porcupine Warriors, where he famously captained the team before his departure to North Africa.
However, in a swift turn of events, it is the Obuasi-based AshantiGold that has captured the signature of the experienced player.
The move sees Boadu, a tough-tackling midfield anchor, bring his wealth of top-flight experience and leadership to the Division One club's campaign.
Boadu's career has taken him from Medeama SC to the captaincy of Asante Kotoko and then to clubs in Libya and Tunisia. His return to Ghana and this new chapter with AshantiGold represents a significant acquisition for the second-tier side as they look to strengthen their squad with proven quality for the decisive phase of the season.
