Karlsruher have moved swiftly to address their defensive concerns by securing the return of Ghanaian international Stephan Ambrosius on loan until the end of the season.
The 27-year-old centre-back rejoins the German second-tier club from Swiss Super League side FC St. Gallen, with the agreement also including an option for a permanent transfer.
It marks Ambrosius’s second spell with Karlsruher, underlining the club’s confidence in a player already familiar with its demands and environment.
Ambrosius previously made 19 competitive appearances for Karlsruher, gaining valuable experience during his earlier stint and leaving with a positive impression.
His return comes at a crucial moment, as the club looks to stabilise its back line amid injuries and limited depth in central defence. With FC St. Gallen currently among the top sides in Switzerland, Ambrosius arrives match-ready and accustomed to high-intensity competition.
The Ghanaian international is known for his physical strength, aerial presence and disciplined positioning, qualities Karlsruher hope will bring immediate balance to their defensive structure.
His prior knowledge of the club, coaching staff and several squad members is expected to ease his reintegration and allow him to contribute without delay.
Ambrosius has already linked up with the team and is eligible for selection straight away, adding experience and leadership to Karlsruher’s squad as they push through the decisive phase of the season.
