Ghanaian young forward Edmund Baidoo is at the centre of an escalating transfer tug-of-war among Europe's elite clubs following his standout performances for Austrian champions RB Salzburg.
The 19-year-old is attracting concrete interest from a cluster of top Bundesliga sides, including Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, and VfB Stuttgart.
VfB Stuttgart has taken the most direct step by making an official inquiry to gather information on the player. However, due to recent squad moves, a transfer during the current January window is considered highly unlikely.
RB Salzburg finds itself in an extremely strong negotiating position. Baidoo is tied to the club with a long-term contract that runs until the summer of 2029 and, crucially, has no known release clause.
This gives the Austrian club significant leverage to command a premium fee. The club's stance has already been tested; reports from October 2025 indicate they rejected a â¬6 million offer from Borussia Dortmund for the then-18-year-old.
Baidoo's ascent has been meteoric. He joined Salzburg from Norwegian club Sogndal in August 2024 for a reported fee of â¬3.3 million. His value has nearly doubled in little over a year.
In the current 2025/26 Austrian Bundesliga season, he has been in excellent form, contributing 5 goals and 4 assists in 16 league appearancesâaveraging a goal involvement every 95 minutes. His current market value is listed at â¬6 million, though analysts suggest any transfer fee would start well above that figure, potentially in the â¬8-15 million range, given the intense competition for his signature.
