Heart of Lions head coach Bashir Hayford has raised doubts about his team’s ability to turn around their poor form in the ongoing 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
The team from Kpando started the campaign on a good note, losing just a single game in the first 11 matches of the season.
However, things went south afterwards, leading to a rapid decline in the team’s chances of clinching the league title.
Now heading into Week 21, Heart of Lions sit seventh in the league table with 27 points, 16 points behind league leaders Medeama Sporting Club.
The team only boast of a single win in their last 10 matches, making them one of the poorest teams in the division in that period.
Speaking to journalists after Heart of Lions’ 1-0 defeat to Bechem United on Sunday, Bashir Hayford admitted it was a tough game for his side, adding that he is unsure his team can recover from their current poor form before the end of the season.
“Unfortunately, the same coach, the same players, the same training sessions and the same everything, but all of a sudden it went off. We have tried and tried, but the same thing. It’s difficult. If we had not started very well, there would be a problem. We are trying to get the answers. Maybe we will get it before the end of the season or maybe next season,” Bashir Hayford said.
Up next for Heart of Lions, the team will face Asante Kotoko on Saturday, January 31.
