Morocco international Ismail Saibari has been slapped with a three-game ban and a fine of $100,000 for exhibiting an unsporting behavior during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final against Senegal.
The 25-year-old combined with teammate Achraf Hakimi attempting to prevent the return of the towel to belonging to Senegal goalkeeper Mendy.
Following review of the high-stake final, the continental football governing body has decided to ban Saibari for three matches together with a fine of $100,000.
A statement from CAF reads, “To suspend the Moroccan National Team player, Mr Ismaël Saibari for three (3) official CAF matches for his unsporting behaviour”
“Mr Ismaël Saibari was also fined USD 100,000” the statement added.
The midfielder, who plies his trade for PSV in the Netherlands is expected to appeal the ruling by CAF.
