The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is moving to bolster the Black Stars’ technical team ahead of the 2026 World Cup, Communications Director Henry Asante Twum has confirmed.
Speaking to LUV FM, Asante Twum said discussions are underway to bring in additional staff, following recommendations from head coach Otto Addo after Ghana secured qualification for the tournament.
“There are also plans to strengthen the technical team, which is very well-known, and is one of the recommendations that the coach made immediately after our qualification, and that discussion is also ongoing,” Asante Twum said.
Asante Twum added that new members of the backroom staff will be announced soon as part of efforts to ensure the team is fully prepared for the global stage.
“A lot is being done, but the interesting thing in football is that everything you do behind the scenes is not recognised until the team lines up on the pitch to play.”
Ghana is set to open its World Cup campaign on June 17 against Panama in Toronto. Preparations will continue steadily until the opener to ensure the squad is in peak condition.
“From now until June 17, when we line up for our first match in Toronto against Panama, we will continue to work to make the team better,” he added.
As part of their buildup, the Black Stars will face Austria and Germany in friendly matches this March, ahead of the tournament, which will be hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the USA.
