Head of Ghana's Football Federation Kurt Edwin Simeon Okraku, paid a courtesy visit to the Upper East Regional Minister during his tour of the region.
The CAF vice president met Honourable Hon. Akamugri Donatus Atanga as they discussed issues regarding efforts to further strengthen the collaboration between the Football Association and government to accelerate football development and youth empowerment.
Kurt Okraku highlighted a number of interventions undertaken since he assumed office in 2019, noting their positive impact on football development in the Upper East Region. Also among these are the construction of a modern technical football facility at Winkongo, near Bolgatanga in the Talensi District, with the first phase completed in 2023 with support from world football governing body, FIFA.
The president of the FA also stressed the importance of the Winkongo Technical Centre, which will serve as a hub for talent identification, player development, coaching education and grassroots football growth across the region.
With the various national team having a busy schedule in 2026, President Okraku also called on the minister through government to support their course.
The minister expressed delight in meeting the FA boss and pledged to help him realise his dream of transforming football in the country.
Hon Donatus Atanga admitted his readiness canvass support from central government and other partners to promote sustainable growth of the game in the Upper East Region.
The president's visit underscores his people-centered leadership approach and forms part of a broader regional tour aimed at strengthening partnerships, addressing challenges at the grassroots and driving sustainable football development across Ghana.
