Ghana international Kwabena Owusu has shared his disappointment following Sakaryaspor’s defeat against Erzurumspor on debut.
The former Black Stars attacker started and played full throttle of the match, as Sakaryaspor succumbed to a narrow defeat to Erzurumspor in the Turkish second division on Monday night.
Owusu was named in the starting line-up and put in a lively performance, showing good energy and commitment throughout the game.
Despite his outfit defeat, the 28-year-old’s full appearance marked a positive personal step as he begins a new chapter in Turkish football.
“Heads up guys, I know we got disappointed last night and we let the fans down. But we’re in this together, so keep supporting us and let’s bounce back” he wrote on social media.
The debut underlined Owusu’s readiness to compete in the Turkish Lig 1, with the forward expected to play a key role for his new side as the season progresses.
Attention now shifts to the weekend, where Sakaryaspor will take on Amedspor in an intriguing fixture. The match is set to feature a Ghanaian duel, with Amedspor boasting compatriot Felix Afena-Gyan.
Both forwards will be aiming to make an impact as their teams continue their push in the league.
