German-Ghanaian attacker Justin Diehl’s injury nightmare at VfB Stuttgart has continued after the young winger picked up another setback while playing for the club’s U-21 side.
The 21-year-old had just delivered a standout performance last weekend in the 3. Liga against TSV 1860 Munich, scoring once and providing an assist as matchwinner, before being forced off shortly before half-time with a heavily bandaged thigh.
According to reports from Bild, further checks have confirmed a muscular injury in the adductor area. Diehl is now expected to be sidelined for several weeks, adding to a long list of fitness problems since his move from FC Köln in the summer of 2024.
This latest setback is already his seventh enforced absence through injury at Stuttgart, fuelling concern over his physical robustness and slowing his pathway toward the first team.
The situation has drawn sympathy from many observers, who feel for a talented player repeatedly halted just as he finds rhythm.
Stuttgart, meanwhile, will again have to cope without a promising attacking option as they manage his recovery and hope this is the last major interruption to his development.
