Heart of Lions assistant coach Daniel Nii Adjei has bemoaned the team’s defeat to Gold Stars in the Ghana Premier League over the weekend.
The Kpando-based outfit hosted the Week 23 opponent at the Kpando Sports Stadium on Sunday, hoping to secure a win to bounce back from their defeat to Berekum Chelsea in the previous game.
Although Heart of Lions scored first on the matchday, a spirited second-half performance from Gold Stars saw the side come from behind to claim a 2-1 triumph.
Speaking in his post-match interview, Daniel Nii Adjei praised the performance of the Heart of Lions players, insisting that they did their best, but it was just not enough to overcome the opponent.
“I will say we played the game very well. We did our best, but in the end, it didn’t go our way. We lost by conceding a goal that was hard to take in, but that’s football. We take it, and we look forward to the following matches.
“We played this match well, but our beat wasn’t the best,” Daniel Nii Adjei said.
After the back-to-back defeats, Heart of Lions will now hope for a win against Basake Holy Stars next Sunday when they lock horns in Week 24.
