Ghanaian winger Emmanuel Addai has his sights firmly set on a Black Stars call-up, driven by a desire to bring joy to a nation that has waited too long for silverware.
The 22-year-old QarabaÄ FK attacker has been impressing with his pace and goal threat in Azerbaijan, but his ultimate ambition transcends personal gloryâit is about country, legacy, and finally helping Ghana smile on the biggest stages.
Since joining the Azerbaijani side, Addai has brought pace, directness, and a growing goal threat to their attack. Yet for all his club success, his heart remains fixed on one goal: wearing the Black Stars jersey.
"No, I haven't had any contact yet," Addai told 3Sports. "But I believe they've seen my performances. Everything happens in God's time. I'm not in a hurry."
That patience is rooted in something deeper than ambition. It is personal.
"I really want to represent Ghana because I love my country. I grew up watching Ghana lose finals, and I want to help bring joy to my people."
He is not interested in simply adding another name to the list of Ghanaian players abroad. He wants to leave a mark that outlasts his career.
"I want to be remembered not just for playing abroad but for doing something meaningful for Ghana."
This season, Addai has scored three league goals for QarabaÄ, making him the club's third-highest scorer domestically. Even after their heavy Champions League defeat to Newcastle United, he has remained a consistent threat with his blistering pace and direct running.
His performances suggest he is ready for the step upâready to carry that same energy into the Black Stars setup.
With QarabaÄ now focused on domestic success, Addai will continue to build on the experience gained from European competition. The dream of representing Ghana feels closer than ever.
