Ghanaian winger Emmanuel Addai is making a name for himself at QarabaÄ FK with his pace, direct running, and growing goal tally. But for the 22-year-old, personal success abroad is only part of the story.
Speaking to 3Sports, Addai opened up about what truly drives himânot just playing football, but leaving a legacy that matters to his homeland.
"I want to be remembered not just for playing abroad but for doing something meaningful for Ghana because I really love Ghana."
Those words carry weight. In an era where many players chase contracts and visibility, Addai's focus is fixed on a deeper purpose: contributing to the national team and bringing joy to a football-crazy nation.
"I grew up watching Ghana lose finals, and I want to help bring joy to my people."
Addai has yet to receive a call-up to the Black Stars, but he remains patient, trusting that his performances will eventually speak loud enough.
"No, I haven't had any contact yet. But I believe they've seen my performances. Everything happens in God's time. I'm not in a hurry."
Since joining QarabaÄ, he has scored three league goals, becoming the club's third-highest scorer domestically while adding a new dimension to their attack. Even after the team's heavy Champions League defeat to Newcastle United, Addai has remained a consistent threat.
But statistics are not his ultimate measure. For Addai, the dream is bigger than goals or assists. It is about wearing the Black Stars shirt, standing with his countrymen, and doing something that outlasts his career.
