Sirlord Conteh’s place in Heidenheim’s matchday squad against Hoffenheim is still unclear after recent knee problems disrupted his preparations this week.
The German-Ghanaian winger was only able to complete individual training during Tuesday’s public session, raising doubts about his immediate availability.
Head coach Frank Schmidt offered a cautiously optimistic update at Friday’s press conference, confirming that Conteh has since rejoined full team training. "Therefore, it could be that he is fit enough," explained Schmidt, thus leaving open the possibility of a squad nomination.
On paper, the situation on the right flank could open the door for Conteh’s return to the starting XI. With two players in that position still a doubt, there is theoretically space for him to come back into the lineup for the first time since Matchday 16.
However, given his recent discomfort and lack of full training earlier in the week, it remains questionable whether Schmidt will risk him from the start. A bench role appears more realistic at this stage as the club balances his fitness with the team’s needs.
