Former Dreams FC defender Zuberu Sharani has switched international allegiance to Togo after being convinced by the country’s football authorities to represent them at senior level.
Sharani, who currently plays for Slovak champions SK Slovan Bratislava, has been included in Togo’s squad for upcoming international friendly matches against Guinea and Niger.
The left-back began his professional career in Ghana with Dreams FC in 2018 before moving to Europe later that year to join AC Sparta Prague. Although he did not make a league appearance for the Czech side, the move opened the door to further opportunities in European football.
Sharani later joined Slovak club DAC Dunajska Streda, where he made 41 league appearances and scored five goals between 2019 and 2022. During that period, he also spent time on loan at MFK ZemplÃn Michalovce.
In 2023, the defender signed for Slovan Bratislava, where he has since made nearly 50 appearances while contributing a goal.
Despite having Ghanaian roots, Sharani has opted to represent Togo internationally and could make his debut in the upcoming friendlies.
