MTN FA Cup committee chairman Wilson Arthur has outlined plans for a curtain raiser ahead of the FA Cup quarterfinal matches scheduled for Cape Coast this weekend.
Mr Arthur explained that the move is aimed at boosting fan interest and bringing more supporters to the stadium for the crucial fixtures.
The quarterfinal matches will be played on Saturday, March 14, and Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the Nana Fosu Gyeabuor Park in Techiman and the Cape Coast Stadium.
Former champions Medeama SC and Dreams FC are both in the hunt for a place in the semifinals. However, they face tough opposition from last season’s semifinalists Attram De Visser and Kpando Heart of Lions.
In Techiman, Aduana FC will play Division One League side Techiman Liberty Youth on Saturday, while Nations FC meet Berekum Chelsea on Sunday.
"There will be a curtain raiser Dwarfs vs Vipers because if we look at the four teams who are playing in Cape Coast the game will be played on Sunday. If we look at the strengths of the teams in terms of fans who follow them to watch the game their impact is a little bit low," he told Peace FM as monitored by Ghanasoccernet.com
"So we have created a plan we did the same thing last season at Tarkwa that made fans come and watch Golden Kicks vs Attram De Visser.
"We call this plan catch them young we make these teams adopt some of the schools the coaches and players will go and do training there and play with the children. They will bond during this process so the next day the children will come and support you at the stadium,"
