German-Ghanaian defender Jan Gyamerah delivered a standout display, capping it with a fine assist as Elversberg beat Arminia Bielefeld 3â1 in the 2. Bundesliga.
Elversberg controlled long spells of the first half and were rewarded when Lukas Petkov opened the scoring before the break to give the hosts a deserved 1â0 lead. After the interval Bielefeld briefly threatened, but Elversberg’s pressure told again as Gyamerah surged forward down the right and picked out Petkov, who coolly finished to make it 2â0 on 69 minutes.
Amara Condé then added a third, finishing off another incisive move to put the game beyond the visitors with just over a quarter of an hour to play. Bielefeld pulled one back through Christopher Lannert late on, but Elversberg comfortably saw out the closing stages to secure all three points.
Gyamerah’s assist was another highlight in an impressive 2025/26 campaign that has seen him make 6 league appearances, scoring 1 goal and providing 0 assists before this match.
Elversberg now turn their attention to a tricky away trip against Hannover 96 on Sunday, April 5.
