Asante Kotoko’s Ghana Premier League clash against Samartex at the Baba Yara Stadium has been called off following a heavy downpour on Monday.
The match was goalless at the time of abandonment, with referee Nathan Anafo halting proceedings after assessing the pitch conditions early in the second half.
After testing the surface by bouncing the ball, the referee, in consultation with both captains, deemed the pitch unplayable due to waterlogging.
The first half had ended without goals, but just seven minutes into the second half, heavy rain began to fall, quickly affecting the state of the pitch and making it unsafe to continue.
The remaining 45 minutes of the match will now be played on Tuesday at 9:00 am local time.
Kotoko had entered the game needing a win to strengthen their position in the title race, while Samartex were also chasing maximum points as they push for a top-four finish.
