Black Stars left-back Ebenezer Annan made a 30-minute cameo for AS Saint-Etienne in their 1-1 draw away to AS Nancy Lorraine in Ligue 2 last Saturday.
The 23-year-old had been sidelined in recent weeks due to an ankle injury but returned to action from the bench after recovering. Before his setback, the former Red Star Belgrade defender had featured consistently during the first half of the season.
Annan was introduced in the 60th minute as Saint-Etienne pushed for an equaliser after conceding as early as the sixth minute. The visitors had earlier missed a chance to draw level before the break, with Zuriko Davitashvili seeing his penalty saved.
The Ghanaian made a notable impact, using his pace and attacking instincts down the left flank to deliver dangerous crosses and stretch the Nancy defence. He also contributed defensively with key tackles, recoveries and clearances, adding balance to his side’s play.
Saint-Etienne eventually found the breakthrough in stoppage time when Lucas Stassin rose above the defence to head home the equaliser. Annan’s performance earned him a 6.8 rating on SofaScore.
Annan missed Ghana’s recent friendlies against Austria and Germany but remains confident of reclaiming his place both at club level and in the national team, having previously played a role during the World Cup qualifiers.
Saint-Etienne are pushing for promotion to Ligue 1, currently sitting second on the table with 54 points.
