Asante Kotoko interim head coach Prince Yaw Owusu has offered a candid reflection on his side's disastrous 4â0 loss to Medeama, admitting that the outcome was far from what he and his players had hoped for.
"It didn't go the way we wanted it," Owusu said in a post-match press conference following the Week 29 defeat at the TNA Stadium in Tarkwa.
The heavy loss not only ended Kotoko's slim title hopes but also dropped the Porcupine Warriors from fourth to sixth place on the Ghana Premier League table. The coach, who had previously insisted that the team could still challenge for the championship, finally conceded that a comeback is now "impossible".
Owusu also apologised to the club's supporters, acknowledging the pain of another disappointing result in a season filled with inconsistency.
"I want to apologise to the fans. It was a bad day at the office," he added.
While he pointed to decisions by match officials as a contributing factor, Owusu's focus remained on the bigger picture: a campaign that promised much but ultimately fell short. For Kotoko, the remainder of the season will be about salvaging pride and rebuilding for the future.
