Aduana FC Chief Executive Officer Collins Attah Poku has revealed that the club are determined to win the MTN FA Cup in honour of the late Dominic Frimpong following his tragic death.
Frimpong, 20, died after sustaining a gunshot wound to the head during a robbery attack on Sunday along the Ahyiresua Kwame Dwumor Sreso road in the Nyinahin District.
The incident occurred when the Berekum Chelsea team bus was ambushed while returning from their Ghana Premier League fixture against FC Samartex. The attack forced players and officials to flee into nearby bushes, with several sustaining minor injuries. Frimpong, who was on loan from Aduana FC, was critically injured and later pronounced dead.
Speaking ahead of Aduana FC’s FA Cup semifinal clash against Nations FC, Attah Poku said the club are motivated to honour the young forward with silverware.
“We want to win the MTN FA Cup in honour of the late Dominic Frimpong," he told MOTV.
"Before his passing, he jokingly sent me a voice note saying that if Aduana FC don’t win the FA Cup, I should sack all the players. We have to do it for him," Attah Poku added.
Frimpong is expected to be laid to rest on April 29 at Assin Fosu in the Central Region.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of the gang leader and another suspect in connection with the robbery attack.
