Global Lead of X1, Richard Zhang, has set out a clear vision for the brand’s new partnership with the Ghana Football Association, describing it as a long-term commitment to strengthening Ghana football at every level.
Speaking at the official launch of the five-year agreement in Accra, Zhang said the collaboration is designed to go beyond a traditional sponsorship model, with a focus on performance, development and sustainability.
“This is not just a partnership announcement, but the beginning of a shared journey, one built on ambition and a deep commitment to the growth of Ghanaian football,” he said. “X1 is proud to stand as the Official Performance Partner of the Black Stars and the Division One League Super Cup.”
The agreement will see X1 provide support to both the national team and domestic competitions, with a structure aimed at improving preparation, logistics and overall performance standards.
Zhang explained that the partnership is built on two main areas, supporting elite performance while also investing in grassroots football. He noted that the Black Stars will benefit from improved preparation systems as Ghana pushes towards the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“Over the next five years, X1 will work closely with the Ghana Football Association to support and motivate the Black Stars in their pursuit of excellence, while also powering the Division One League Super Cup,” he added.
As part of efforts to strengthen local involvement, Black Stars players Gideon Mensah and Elisha Owusu have been named as both brand ambassadors and equity partners.
Zhang said the move reflects a deeper level of commitment, with players directly involved in building the brand.
“They are not just faces of the brand, they are part of building it. That reflects real belief and a commitment to inspiring the next generation,” he said.
Beyond the elite level, X1 has outlined plans to invest in grassroots football through the provision of equipment such as kits, boots and footballs for young players across the country.
The partnership signals a combined effort to improve performance at the top while strengthening the foundations of Ghana football for the future.
