The pathway to Ghana’s top-tier women’s competition sharpens next month as the Ghana Football Association’s Competitions Department confirms plans for the 2025/2026 Regional Women’s Championship, a decisive qualifying tournament for promotion into the Women's Premier League.
Set to run from May 14 to May 23, the competition will bring together leading clubs from across the country’s regions, all seeking to secure a coveted place in the elite division.
The championship will be staged across two zones, ensuring a balanced and competitive structure as teams battle for advancement.
In the south, fixtures will be hosted at the Tuba Astro Turf in Kasoa, while the northern zone will be centred at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale.
The dual-location format is expected to ease travel demands and maximise participation, as teams chase promotion to the Southern and Northern Zones.
The tournament is widely regarded as a crucial step in strengthening the women’s football pyramid in Ghana.
The participating teams are yet to confirmed as some competitions are still ongoing.
