Black Princesses coach Charles Sampson has expressed strong belief in his squad ahead of Ghana’s decisive FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifying tie against Uganda.
The Black Princesses will host the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, as they aim to move a step closer to securing a place on the global stage.
Sampson says the team is fully prepared following weeks of intensive training in Prampram, where the squad has been in camp since the end of March.
“We’ve had enough time to prepare, and the players have responded well. The focus now is to translate that work onto the pitch and get the result we need,” he said.
Ghana enter the tie with clear ambition, knowing victory over two legs will seal qualification. While Uganda arrive with determination and little pressure, Sampson insists his side is focused on execution rather than the opposition.
“They will come with energy because they want to make history, but we also have a target. It’s about staying disciplined and making sure we take our chances,” he noted.
The coach also pointed to the evolution of his squad, with new players stepping in and raising the level of competition within the team. According to him, the added depth has strengthened the group and improved overall performance.
Although the absence of Comfort Yeboah presents a challenge, Sampson remains confident the available squad has the quality to deliver.
