Freiburg midfielder Daniel-Kofi Kyereh has issued a rallying cry ahead of Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign, insisting the Black Stars must match the intensity of their opponents to progress from Group I.
Speaking to Joy Sports, the 30-year-old playmaker admitted that while he lacks specific knowledge of the Panama squad, he expects a fierce physical battle when the two sides meet in their opening fixture.
Kyereh emphasized that motivation levels will be equal across the pitch, leaving no room for complacency.
“I don’t know any player from Panama, to be honest, but what I am sure of is that none of them will be less motivated than our most motivated player,” Kyereh stated.
“So it will be a fight, and we need to win. There is no other option.”
The midfielder’s comments come as he nears a miraculous return to the international fold.
Kyereh has spent over three years on the sidelines recovering from a complex knee injury, but his recent return to first-team training and reserve team matches in Germany has put him back in contention for the final squad.
Ghana faces a daunting task in North America, drawn in a challenging group alongside heavyweights England and 2018 finalists Croatia.
The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama on June 17, before traveling to Foxborough to face England on June 23.
