Ghana internationals Andre Ayew, Kamal Sowah and Denis Odoi have officially been relegated from the Eredivisie with NAC Breda following a disappointing 2025-26 campaign.
Breda’s relegation was confirmed after 16th-placed FC Volendam secured a 1-1 draw against Excelsior Rotterdam in the penultimate round of the season.
The result moved Volendam to 32 points, leaving NAC Breda stranded on 25 points with only two matches remaining.
Although Breda’s match against SC Heerenveen was abandoned after crowd disturbances involving fireworks, other results mathematically confirmed the club’s drop to the Eerste Divisie.
Even victories in their remaining matches would not be enough to save Breda from relegation.
Ayew joined the Dutch side as a free agent in January in an attempt to help the club survive in the top flight.
However, the former Black Stars captain managed only one goal in 16 league appearances during a difficult second half of the season.
Sowah and Odoi were also part of the Breda squad that struggled throughout the campaign as the club endured an immediate return to the second tier.
