Ghana defender Alidu Seidu is expected to return to the Black Stars setup after missing the March international friendlies against Austria and Germany, GHANAsoccernet.com can report
Stade Rennais full-back is set to join the national team in the coming days ahead of Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The versatile right-back was absent from Rennais’ training session on Friday morning after travelling to Paris to complete administrative procedures linked to his national team call-up.
According to reports in France, the trip was made at the request of the Ghana Football Association as Seidu needed to secure a visa for Ghana’s upcoming international friendly against Wales national football team in Cardiff on June 2.
The Black Stars are expected to use the encounter as part of their final preparations before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which kicks off on June 11.
Seidu’s temporary absence comes at a delicate moment for Stade Rennais FC, with the French side preparing for their final Ligue 1 game of the season away to Olympique de Marseille on Sunday evening.
Despite missing the morning session, the 25-year-old is expected to rejoin his club teammates later in the day for an individual training programme ahead of the crucial fixture.
Although Ghana coach Otto Addo is yet to officially announce his squad for the Wales friendly and the World Cup, Seidu’s involvement appears almost certain.
The defender is set for a return to the national team after being left out of Ghana’s squad for the March friendlies against Austria and Germany.
At the World Cup, Ghana national football team have been drawn in Group L alongside England national football team, Croatia national football team and Panama national football team.
