Cape Verde have announced their 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup as the Blue Sharks prepare for a historic appearance on football’s biggest stage.
The island nation will compete at the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico, which begins on June 11, and become one of the smallest countries by both land area and population ever to qualify for a World Cup.
Coach Bubista has selected an experienced squad featuring players from leagues across Europe, Asia and North America as Cape Verde look to make an impact in their first appearance at the finals.
Cape Verde have been drawn in Group H alongside Spain, Uruguay and Saudi Arabia.
They begin their campaign against Spain on June 15 before facing Uruguay on June 21 and Saudi Arabia on June 27.
Among the players selected is Shamrock Rovers defender Roberto Lopes, who has represented Cape Verde since making his international debut in 2019.
